Woodbringer
Carver walked onto the starboard bridge wing to watch as Grange began the difficult process of slotting Woodbringer into position and the timber crew geared up for the assault. Everyone wore a gauntlet and Carver readied hers. On the safety derricks and the crane, lumin crystals in reflectors cast light on the tree from above.
Two sawyers waited to ride the lift line down to the pine’s crown. Each man wore a leather harness sporting a short lopping saw for limbs, a combo axe-hammer-prybar, an assortment of barbed anchor eyes, two short support lines, a lumin lamp, and a verminocitor’s scalelash. A pair of two-man bucking saws hung over the side, ready to be clipped onto the lift line.
